More than 100 different Human Papilloma Viruses HPV are detected nowadays and some of these types are more likely to develop cancer in human beings. Those are referred as “high carcinogenic risk” or “high risk types” HPV and they are known to cause the vast majority of cervical cancers which cause death in women with an annual incidence of around half a million and a mortality of almost 50 %. But the persistent infection has also been linked to cancer of the oropharynx, larynx, vulva, vagina, penis, and anus.
The combination of the RealLine HPV 16/18 and the RealLine HPV HCR Screen Kit enables the detection of the genotypes 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66, 68 and the differentiation of type 16 and 18.
